Justin Ferguson, Principal
Justin Ferguson possesses an immense amount of experience in several areas that are key to helping his clients achieve the success they require. He prides himself on believing that no goal is too challenging and takes this ideology into every situation, whether it is running a marathon, raising money for charity, or helping businesses reach their targets.
Before starting Cosmos Strategies, Justin served as an Elected Representative’s Chief of Staff and held additional advisory, communication, and policy roles in both federal and provincial politics. He also has several years of extensive volunteer experience and has worked on various types of campaigns.
Mr. Ferguson has developed an acute understanding of how to communicate effectively, develop strategies, implement plans, build coalitions, and manage projects. He uses these skills to achieve results for his clients. He has worked alongside business executives, Ministers, Senators, Federal and Provincial Members of Parliament, and senior political staff.
Justin is an avid learner who continuously strives to flourish both personally and professionally. He has taken a wide variety of courses in business leadership, strategic communications, campaign management, and is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie program. He is continually called upon to put these skills to work for his clients.
Volunteering and fundraising are a passion of Justin’s. Every year he participates in several running events, which serve as an avenue to raise money for various charities. His biggest running accomplishments were completing the Boston Marathon in 2014 & 2015, where he ran in support of Wake Up Narcolepsy and Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.
Mr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and History with a concentration in International Relations from Carleton University.
James Ferguson, Senior Advisor
James Ferguson brings over 30 years of government and public sector experience to Cosmos Strategies. Before retiring from public service Mr. Ferguson served in various ministries, including the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and the Ministry of Labour. He prides himself on being able to provide insightful advice that his clients require.
During his time in the public service James held a combination of different roles, including serving as an interim director, a senior auditor and a program budget analyst. In these roles he led teams, managed budgets, implemented multi-billion dollar projects and developed multi-year financial outlooks. His skill set also includes the ability to develop automated time management systems, conduct and report on deep internal audits, and provide departmental oversight on the creation of new internal systems.
James has a penetrating understanding of how governments and business should operate. He uses these skills to assist clients with a number of elements, including, business performance, finding operational efficiencies, and working within the government system.
Mr. Ferguson is an enthusiastic sports fan and has spent many years serving in various leadership roles on sports teams and associations, including a term as the Vice-Chair of the Eastern AAA Hockey League.
In his spare time Mr. Ferguson enjoys helping others realize and achieve their life goals.
